When Annoushka Ducas decided to design a beautiful charm to represent her relationship with her husband, she envisioned him as a gold rock.

He had other ideas. “He said, ‘I want to be sex on legs,’” says the jewellery designer. So she created the word ‘SEX’ in brown diamond-encrusted white gold, mounted on top of a pair of carat yellow gold legs sporting blackened gold shoes.

The playful piece is one of seven charms she designed in to tell her life story after being inspired by the BBC Radio 4 show Desert Island Discs, in which a famous ‘castaway’ reveals their favourite tracks. But Ducas, founder of her eponymous British jewellery brand Annoushka, was already drawn to meaningful jewels.

She has collected charms since she was a child, owning dozens that conjure up special memories.
